The Saga Continues

So it's been a little over two weeks since the Will Beatty 4.0 event and I've finally recovered. I have to say that we partied like it was 1999! My man, DJ Turk Nice, did not give us a break... he kept the dance floor on fire! There was a brief pause in the action where my friend Todd Chisolm, presented a photo slide show (which he edited himself) that included pictures from my childhood, teen years, early adulthood, and fatherhood. Then the hip-hop dance group, Remote Control, performed a captivating dance routine in tribute to the birthday boy (me). After that, Turk got back on our case and he didn't let up until about 2:00 a.m.! 4.0 was everything that I wanted it to be and some things I couldn't imagine it would be. Monica(my BABY!) did her thing in the planning. The 4.0 cake with Omega Psi Phi, and my new motto "Better, Stronger, Faster" was off the chain! She really surprised me with that one. Mrs. Thornton baked a "40" shaped cake and put 40 candles on it! When they lit them it turned out to be quite a large fire! My brother Steve gave a great toast, Mom and Dad kept the event running smoothly and my sister Karen made sure that she reminded us how to do every old school dance since 1981! I have to mention that 2 Willie's Restaurant really set it out for us. I had friends there from childhood, high school, college, and my current station in life. They represented every important phase of my life and we went HARD! Yesterday, my man Rick said it was more a reunion than a party. I have to say that's accurate. People came in from North and South Carolina, Down Town Atlanta (and other cities near by) and Peri (my sister) came in from Colon, Germany! It was very much like the gatherings that close families have only during funerals. I'm pleased to say that we were celebrating the living!

The party could be considered an accurate snapshot of my life because I am blessed to have been present for many similar gatherings of friends and family. All in all, my life has been a "Stone Groove", just like the 4.0 event was and it's only going to get better. This brings me to the purpose of the Will Beatty 4.0 Blog.

After you've lived for 40 years, you will have had some valuable experiences and learned some tough lessons. At 40, you still have very youthful energy while at the same time you are well grounded; due to possessing a relatively vast set of experiences to reference. You have acquired some knowledge in certain cultural pursuits i.e. literature and wine. You have also developed an insightful perspective on topics like relationships, business, and politics. While you may desire to share your knowledge and insight with others, the confidence which comes from being seasoned in life allows you to be open minded and to actively engage others in order to explore other perspectives; because you realize that you don't know it all.

It is my desire to share with you, the insight and life lessons that I have received thus far in my journey and to encourage you to share yours. I will write about life and the pursuit of happiness. I will suggest topics for your discussion and we will publish a polling of your opinions on the subject here. It is my intention to inspire, motivate, and entertain you with this blog.

Also, I will launch additional pages, over the coming weeks, that will feature topics and categories which I currently enjoy. For example, there will be a page featuring cigars and cigar life style accessories that is called "Cigars 4.0"... so stay tuned for the topics that may interest you. Feel free to kick off your shoes and stay a while. Your opinion is welcome here... so do take a moment to comment. I promise that we are going to continue to have a "Stone Groove" together!

Be Blessed...

Will
